Read the application instructions or visit the Application FAQ page for more information.
  2. Do I need to send an official copy of my transcripts?
No. You may submit unofficial transcripts when you apply online.
  3. How can I provide an English translation of my transcripts when my University does not issue English transcripts?
Upload the original, non-English transcripts as well as your English translation of your transcripts. Please have your translation confirmed by an official authority of the university such as the Dean or Provost.
  4. Who is eligible to apply?
The program is open to all qualified university students who are studying at a university in Europe and Israel. You can find full details on eligibility on this page. Persons who are (1) residents of embargoed countries, (2) ordinarily resident in embargoed countries, or (3) otherwise prohibited by applicable export controls and sanctions programs may not participate in the camp.
  5. I am currently a second year student of a 3 year Bachelors program, can I apply?
No, Android Camp is only open to first year students of a 3 year Bachelors program, or first and second year students of a 4 year Bachelors program.
  6. I am currently a third year/fourth year/graduate student, can I apply?
No. At this time, Android Camp is only open to current first or second year undergraduate students. Other class levels should visit the Google Students website for various new grad and internship opportunities.
  7. Is there a required university degree course?
Students should be studying Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or a related area department.
  8. Who can provide the recommendation letter?
We recommend you select someone with a Computer Science background so they can comment on your technical ability and CS strength. Ideally this will be a CS professor, but you can also ask a personal tutor or one of your lecturers.
  9. How do I submit the recommendation letter?
When you complete the application there is a section to add an email address for a referrer to provide a recommendation letter. When you have submitted your application, an email will be sent to that email address asking them to provide a recommendation letter in the online system. Please ask your referrer to check their spam folder as sometimes it may go into there. It’s important that the recommendation letter is also submitted by the deadline, April 5, 2013.
  10. What is the application deadline?
The deadline to apply is midnight UK time on April 5, 2013 - but we encourage you not to wait until the last minute!
  11. When will I know if I have been selected to participate in the program?
If you are selected to participate, you can expect to be contacted directly by an Android Camp team member by early May.
  12. I’m having trouble uploading documents or submitting my application. What should I do?
First step, we recommend you try a different web browser to see if that solves the problem. There is currently a bug in the system and file names with non-latin characters are causing an error message. We recommend that applicants try to rename their files to something with latin only characters and that should resolve the issue.
  13. I’ve submitted my application but I need to make a last minute change and I can no longer edit it. What should I do?
Please email emea-android-camp-questions@google.com and let us know. We can then move your application back to 'In Progress' status where you should be able to edit and then re-submit your application.

Program Logistics

  1. What will Google pay for?
Google will be providing round-trip transportation within Europe and Israel, and housing including room fees and taxes. Most meals will be provided either at the hotel or at Google. We have incorporated social activities into the program which are also covered by Google.
  2. What will the housing be like?
Students will be housed in a hotel within close proximity to the Google London Office. Specific information on logistics and daily transportation to Google will be shared with accepted attendees. Students will be sharing a hotel room with a pre-assigned roommate.
  3. Can I choose my roommate?
We would like students to room with students they haven’t yet met, as networking is one of the goals of our program. Student roommates will be same-sex.
