SONG OF THE WEEK: HURTS “Blind” [Numero 62]
Sessantaduesimo ”numero” della mia nuova rubrica SONG OF THE WEEK, consigli personali sui nuovi pezzi che ritengo interessanti o,quanto meno,degni di nota rispetto ad altri nel mondo del mainstream musicale. Non tutto il commerciale è da buttare,e spero che con questa rubrica lo possa dimostrare.

Per questa settimana ho scelto “Blind“, secondo singolo estratto dal secondo lp di studio “Exile” (#9 UK, #2 SWI), del duo inglese degli Hurts.
Il brano ed il videoclip abbinato mettono subito in chiara luce i temi preponderanti del nuovo capitolo del duo, ossia “sesso” e”morte”, di cui i loro video sono sempre più intrisi.
“Blind” parla di una forte e lacerante nostalgia, di un pentirsi di aver rinunciato ad una persona e di aver paura di vederla, ora, felice nella sua nuova vita ” da sola”, per i fatti propri.
In “Blind” il protagonista del testo preferisce una condizione di “cecita'” piuttosto di dover, eventualmente, e probabilmente, scoprire che la realta’ è lontana dai propri desideri.
Il sound del pezzo è di base synthpop con influenze rock e new wave ed il look dei due ragazzi è un retro’ ,anche se molto attuale, anni 20/30 che risulta vincente e particolare nel suo mix tra musica e aspetto visivo.
Il singolo sara’ pubblicato il 12 maggio 2013 e seguira’ “Miracle”. Il videoclip ufficiale lo trovate nell’articolo, ed è uscito il 4 aprile scorso.

This week i’ve chosen “Blind“, second single taken off “Exile”, second studio album from the english duo Hurts.
Tune and videoclip made clear the themes for this new chapter of their carrer, sex and death, which are deeply depicted by them.
“Blind” deals with a strong and tearing nostalgia. Regretting of an old flame gone, the protagonist of the lyrics is afraid of seeing how she’s doin’, scared of finding out that her life, now, is good or maybe better than before.
He chooses a blindness condition, metaphoric, instead of facing the possible truth, of a reality that’s far from what he wanted it to be.
“Blind” is a synthpop song with rock and new wave influences. The look of the boys is kinda retro’, which is very trendy right now, 20s/30s, and the result is a very good mixture of what to see and what to hear.
The single will be released May the 12th and will follow the first one from 2nd lp, “Miracle”. Official videoclip, at the bottom of the article, has been released the 4th of April.
