John Arnold DeMarco is a man who believes he is Don Juan, the greatest lover in the world. Clad in a cape and mask, DeMarco undergoes psychiatric treatment with Dr. Jack Mickler to cure him of his apparent delusion. But the psychiatric sessions have an unexpected effect on the psychiatric staff and, most profoundly, Dr Mickler, who rekindles the romance in his complacent marriage.

Have any of you men out there ever wanted to be the perfect womanizer, now you can by following these three simple steps...
1. Say everything with an undying, tender passion.
2. Speak in an accent. Does'nt even have to be Italian. Just any accent.
3. Look like Johnny Depp.
You can try to follow these steps or just watch this film, pay attention to Depp, and take long notes. Before you know it, you can be a regular Don Juan. Believe it or not, it worked for Brando, and it can work for you too!

Have you ever seen a film in your watchlist or your queue or your viewing carpet and instead of going "Yes! Finally get to watch this awesome movie" or "Oh no! Here we go...", you rather frown upon the title, look at the roof and ask yourself "How did I stumble this stuff?" or "What's this?"
While I can't really point out to this movie (I suspect the fact the Bryan Addams song was nominated for the Oscars had something to do) and I actually postponed the watching of this for almost a month - in the end, this wasn't as awful as I expcted.

Psychiatrist Dr Mickler (Marlon Brando) encounters a young man (Johnny Depp) who claims to be Don Juan, the fabled seducer/lover of women. This is a nice easy-going piece of entertainment with a sweet zesty tone and fun performances from Brando & Depp.

This was a curious decades-later revisit for me. I've reached an age where so many years can pass between viewings, that the details of a film I've only seen once are often lost to time, however the overall tone is etched in there.
I think I liked this more when I was younger. It's more sensual than sexual. There's a cheeky swagger to it, and more than a few early signposts to Captain Jack Sparrow in Johnny Depp's portrayal of a man who may or may not be the mythical Don Juan, the greatest lover of all time.
Marlon Brando seems to have speech issues, more so than in The Godfather, but he's surprisingly present in this story, which is…

I realize that I gave this too many marks, but if there's anything I have realized about cinema, it can best be said by a line that I watched, performed by Jean-Louis Trintignant, where he stated (and I paraphrase), something like, 'I can't remember the movie, but I can recall my feelings', and that sums up nicely why I feel the way I do about the movie. It's an interesting idea acted well by very good actors (a lot of people dismiss Marlon Brando's work here, but I don't think it's that bad, honestly). If anything, the problem here is the movie doesn't know where to go after its decent start.
