Probably the best date night spot in the city. Site by the window, people watch and dive into some of the best gumbo the city has to offer. The Louisiana Gold Rush cocktail is phenomenal and is made with love. Staff is super attentive and friendly and make sure they are prioritizing your needs.

My mail and service were exceptional. Want to go back so I can sit outside in their courtyard

This was the restaurant I was most looking forward to trying in NOLA but unfortunately it was the most disappointing. The interior and courtyard are cute and the service was great, but unfortunately the meal missed the mark for me.
My friend ordered a tequila cocktail that tasted like watered down tequila, and my banana drink was vomit-colored and had odd grainy chunks in it. The cheese plate was decent - the blue and goat cheese were tasty. However, the brie tasted like Presidents brie from the supermarket. The gnocchi was the highlight of the meal. It was absolutely delicious but unfortunately it came out room temp and the 'burrata' was more like mozz (stringly instead of creamy). Lastly, the strawberry shortcake was very underwhelming. The whipped cream was great but the biscuits were super dense. Nothing was inedible, but with such great reviews I definitely expected more!Helpful 2Thanks 1Love this 1Oh no 0 - Apr 22, 2024
Cafe Amelie truly serves some delicious food in the center of the French quarter!!
The shrimp and grits was possibly the meal of my trip to New Orleans! The Veal Mole was good as well but not as overwhelmingly delicious.
The service at Cafe Amelie does not do the food justice, as some of the staff seemed annoyed or uninterested in being there.
The interior and patio are lovely, but the service station and storage area of the patio ruined the experience slightly. Instead of feeling like we were dining at the restaurant, it felt as though we were watching them set-up and prepare for service.
Based on the food alone, I'd easily return but I'd love to see the service and ambiance match the quality of the food to truly make it 5 starsHelpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 16, 2024
We came in for dinner during a recent trip. Reservations were made ahead of time, which is recommended. We were seated right away in the beautiful patio.
Our server was prompt and attentive. They were busy but we didn't feel it in our service. Food came out pretty fast.
I tried the watermelon salad, rose garden mocktail and gnocchi. The watermelon salad missed the mark- it felt like it was missing a flavor and was somehow bland? The mocktail also really didn't deliver much flavor wise and felt like just a pretty sparkling water. The star of the show was the gnocchi! So fresh and light while full of flavor. I have never had gnocchi quite like this and I loved it.
We also shared bread pudding with was delicious!
Overall a great meal in town and perfect for a celebration. I hope they have more vegetarian entree options in the future beyond just the one.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Apr 5, 2024
My daughter and I took a southern road trip (southern food tour, rather) for spring break and it was absolutely glorious! Our last stop was Nola and while we had discussed restaurants we wanted to visit, we really let the food gods point us in the right direction. Our second day there, we got up early one morning to stroll the French Quarter in search of some good eats. We passed several eateries before the food gods stopped us at Cafe Amelie. Never heard of it before but as we checked out the menu, we decided, yes, this is where we wanted to eat.
Although we didn't have a reservation, we were able to be seated right away. Our server showed up promptly and we were ready to order. I ordered a Bloody Mary and my daughter, a lemonade; for food we got the watermelon salad, chicken and waffles and shrimp and grits. It doesn't get anymore southern than that. Everything was absolutely DEEEEEEEElishis!!! Rich, sumptuous, well-seasoned and everything you would expect in a French Quarter cafe.
Cafe Amelie was exactly what we were looking for in terms of architecture, decor, location, great service and amazing food. And after reading about the history and awesome reviews of Cafe Amelie when we left, we thanked the food gods profusely.Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0 - vanessa y.Alhambra, CA374209May 18, 2024

This is a mediocre attempt. Aside from the service being very good, the food was barely ok. The decor was warm and inviting, but you could tell, the place was old and needs some TLC.
We ordered an appetizer, the charred cauliflower. I wasn't a big fan, my friend said it was pretty good.
My black drum fish was cooked well, tasted ok, but everything else on the plate was not great. And it was served on a freezing cold plate. So the food wasn't hot, just warm. No bueno.
My friend got shrimp and grits and it was really dry. You could probably look at that photo and compare it to other shrimp and grits photos here, there is obviously something wrong.
I guess it just wasn't our night...Helpful 10Thanks 1Love this 4Oh no 2 - Feb 13, 2024
We went for brunch. They have a nice menu detailing every gluten free, vegan, vegeratian options or whether they can be modified to be.
We shared the beets salad. It actually tasted amazing, and was definitely the highlight of the meals. I forgot to take a picture unfortunately, but it came with goat cheese, squash, and a nice dressing.
I ordered the cochon de lait. I did not realize it was a sandwich. They substituted the bread with gluten free bread. The mains in general were good but a bit heavy.
The service was lacking a bit. We had to wait an extra 15min to be seated. It was very hard to get our waitress' attention, and our food took a very long time to arrive.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1
