Visitors to an area of North Wales which is popular with aircraft enthusiasts have been warned to park responsibly or face police action.

The so-called Mach Loop is a series of valleys lying between Dolgellau in the north and Machynlleth in the south.

It regularly attracts plane spotters due to its use as a low-level training area for military aircraft.

It has previously been noted as being among the few places in the world where photographers can see combat aircraft flying below them.

North Wales Police has today urged people to use allocated parking area close to the A487 during their visit.

It follows reports of vehicles obstructing the road, as well as images of crowded scenes being shared from other parts of Snowdonia over the weekend.

A spokesperson for the Gwynedd south policing team said: “If you are heading to the A487 ‘Mach Loop’ please park responsibly and safely in the designated car park.

“We are patrolling the area and any cars parked obstructively will be dealt with.

“Diolch am eich cydweithrediad / Thank you for your cooperation.”
