Elisabetta Canalis, the recently eliminated “Dancing with the Stars” contestant better known as George Clooney’s ex, has opened up about their split, just as Clooney made yet another red carpet appearance with his new paramour, Stacy Keibler, at the New York Film Festival last night.
“It was a difficult time for me,” Canalis told Italy’s Chi magazine of her breakup with Clooney in June. “At the end of the day I have always seen the end of my relationships as a personal failure.”
Canalis furthers that the breakup led her to rethink how she approaches romance. “I’m a bit of a tomboy, but when it comes to love I am a doormat. I’m looking for men who can give me security,” she explained. “You have to accept that Prince Charming who is coming to save you is not going to happen.”

Meanwhile, Clooney posed for pictures at the New York premiere of “The Descendants” last night with his arm tightly around Keibler, who wore a provocatively sheer black dress. Clooney wouldn’t discuss their relationship, but he did comment on something Keibler has in common with ex Canalis — they’ve both done “Dancing with the Stars.”
Clooney said, not so surprisingly, that he would never consider doing the show himself. “I’m a terrible dancer,” he joked.
Canalis may appear a little sad-sack in the wake of the breakup, but she is moving on as well. She was spotted out with sexy Mehcad Brooks of “True Blood” earlier this month.
