Markus Lupfer played with the idea of tough femininity, saying during his presentation that he’d imagined flowers blooming against a Mexican desert landscape. Cue designs in a moody palette of black and white, softened by scores of pretty desert flowers embroidered or printed onto the garments. One model wore a black organza shift dress embroidered with pale pink and yellow flowers, paired with a matching bomber jacket.
Lupfer also made room for kookiness in the collection via a Mexican wrestler – or luchador – motif, that came as a print on a black bomber jacket or an appliqué on a black lace top. Fun accessories, such as black leather slip-on sneakers embellished with clusters of beaded flowers, added to the collection’s youthful appeal, as did the charming setting, which Lupfer said he’d designed as an “abstract take on the desert.” Flower stems were dotted across the floor, while models posed against sculptures that represented oversize cacti.
