El transporte por carretera y los tipos de vehículos

The advantages of working with a pallet pool

Trucks are the vehicle par excellence for the transport of merchandise that allow millions of businesses and families to be supplied daily.

For road transport there are different types of trucks depending on the merchandise, volume, weight and route.

Structural formats of trucks

Rigid: in which the driver’s cab and the trailer or cargo area are in the same indivisible structure. They are usually used for transportation in urban areas and delivery of parcels or last mile.

Articulated: composed of two rigid parts, the cabin and the cargo area are joined through a joint, so they are more versatile for different sizes and types of cargo.

The trailer consists of a semi-trailer and the cabin responsible for driving the semi-trailer, both separable.

Types of trucks according to the type of cargo

Closed: where the cargo area has rigid enclosures, so they only perform loading and unloading through the rear opening.

Open platform: this type of cargo area is very versatile and can even be adaptable to different types of merchandise, since they can carry some type of closure, cover or sides to prevent the movement of the cargo. It is usually used for building materials and bulk products.

Tautliner: or truck with walls closed by tarpaulins, allow loading and unloading more easily from both sides.

Refrigerators, isothermal or refrigerated: used to transport merchandise that requires a controlled temperature, such as perishable food.

Tank: or tank for the transport of liquid or gaseous elements.
