TRANSFORMATION TUESDAY

Anne Hathaway Is Unrecognizable Under All That Avatar Makeup

This selfie was the last thing we expected from the WeCrashed actor, but we're not mad about it.

Talk about a transformation Tuesday. We're always interested in Anne Hathaway and her major movie makeovers, but we can't get over her latest look. The Ocean's Eight alum posted an unexpected series of photos to Instagram on March 26, And by "unexpected," we mean that she's literally been transformed into an avatar from the James Cameron film of the same name.

The post's first image is a selfie of Hathaway wearing blue face paint, complete with little dots all around her face and pale stripes on her forehead. Hathaway's nose is the most striking feature of the makeup — prosthetics were added around the bridge to make it thicker and help achieve the signature Avatar look. Pointy prosthetic ears were added, too. Her hair appears to be her natural color, but as her strands were braided with beads and feathers, we're thinking some extensions were added to provide more length and thickness

"Rise and Grind!" she captioned the photo. She continued to give special shoutouts to makeup artists Molly Stern and Stephanie Pasicov (@spasicov), as well as hairstylist Lona Maria Vigi for pulling off the look in just an hour and a half for episode four of WeCrashed, a new miniseries about the rise and fall of WeWork that Hathaway stars in.

Hathaway also mentioned that removing all of the makeup took weeks. She wasn't kidding, apparently, as the two other photos in the carousel feature Hathaway in her dressing room with the artists attempting to scrub the makeup off. Honestly, we're here for this look — she certainly works it better than we could. We wouldn't be mad if she was suddenly cast in the Avatar sequels, either. After all, she looks the part. Can we get a cameo, at least? Anything?
