At the American Music Awards 2016, songbird Lady Gaga wore a pantsuit, perhaps in homage to her unofficial pantsuit-wearing hero, Hillary Clinton. And if you're not one of the millions of women who are a part of Pantsuit Nation now (find 'em on Facebook), you can officially add one more member to the closed group: Lady Gaga.

During Sunday's American Music Awards, held in rainy Los Angeles, Lady Gaga walked the red carpet in a chic white pantsuit from designer Brandon Maxwell (a frequent Gaga go-to) paired with a dramatic, wide-brimmed white hat. The oversize hat, as many Monsters will know, is a look Gaga has been seen in since her album Joanne dropped in October. But her white pantsuit was a subtle and unmistakable fashion statement of its own, honoring Hillary Clinton, the 2016 election, and suffragists.

Gaga's outfit was a bolder version of Clinton's DNC pantsuit, which was a nod to suffragists who used the color to represent their cause. On Election Day, Clinton voters showed support for their candidate by donning white (and pantsuits) to the polls, honoring the first female to represent a major party in a presidential election. (Gaga donned an apropos white look to vote.)

The singer has been a very vocal supporter of Clinton's, speaking at the Democratic nominee's rallies prior to the election and even taking to the streets post-election to protest Donald Trump's win. And although she didn't wear a pantsuit on stage for her performance, we're still thinking she literally gave Hillary Clinton a hat tip on the red carpet.
