Very well recorded and emotion provoking. I don't play junk in my HiFi system and I absolutely have no regrets adding this to my collection.

14 Tracks, "Ego Rock" is an interesting track with a male singer, not specified when it plays, interesting tracks all, performances... Down On Me, Bye Bye Baby, All is Loneliness, Piece of My Heart, Road Block, Flower In The Sun, Summertime, Ego Rock, Half Moon, Kosmic Blues, Move Over, Try (Just a Little Bit Harder), Get it While You Can, Ball and Chain. there are songs that do not seem to be on the other works, but the songs that are the same are different recordings, takes. Am glad to have this in my blues & rock collection, makes me wish she had not "self destructed" with Heroin in Hollywood, CA Oct. 4, 1970. I do not love it, start with the best 3, Pearl (1971), "I Got Dem' Ol' Kosmic Blues Again Mama" (1969) with 3 bonus tracks (Dear Landlord - Outake, Summertime, Piece of My Heart"), & "Cheap Thrills" with Big Brother & Holding Company (1968) . I recommend this, interesting monolog at intro to "Try". Makes me smile, she has that sense of irony that helps many of us cope with tough times. Recommended album worth your $$ - was mine. -30-

Love her, reminds me of the 70s and 80s.

Originally released in 1972 as a double live LP. Assembled from many concerts from 1968-70. It's great performances cherry picked from various shows and arranged and edited to make it flow as if one concert although progressing in time with Janis. It's very well produced. If you're wanting to get 1 Live Janis CD, I say go with this one first. If you then become a fanatic, which might happen, then carry on with her others! You cannot beat the amazon price for the packed 76 min CD of $6.98 and you get a Free mp3 rip (as of April 2021). Enjoy!

This is OK, but there has to be so much better out there. Where is it? What about more from the festival express. Wasn't that all recorded?

After many years I have come to the conclusion that the Janis live recordings are
superior to the studio albums. Her version of Half Moon recorded live in Toronto
had her reaching places within herself that she had never gone.

I stumbled across her with Big Brother at a place in Detroit called the Grande ballroom.
I had no idea what I was about to witness. She walked by me, stopped and we spent
a few minutes sharing some herb. I had no idea who she was. 10 minutes later she was on
stage putting out a sound that I thought was impossible for a white woman to produce.

There will never be another like her, she was the epitome of one and done in terms of vocals.

5.0 out of 5 stars La reina del rock en vivo!
