A new smartphone concept has been published by the Phone Industry YouTube channel, and it actually looks quite interesting. This is an imaginary phone, just to be clear, and it is called “Maserati GranTurismo”.

Based on its name, it is safe to say that this device has been inspired by sports cars, and the designer said that this is “an old school phone” focused on “looks”, and that it did not give too much attention to the latest trends in the phone industry while he was designing it.

As you can see, the phone is made of metal, and it does sport a display notch, a tiny waterdrop notch at the top of the display, similar to the one on the OnePlus 6T. The phone’s display sports rounded corners, and the “chin” is non-existent, basically.

A Type-C port is placed on the bottom of the phone, along with a 3.5mm headphone jack, and one of the speakers on the device. What’s interesting here, is the fact that a 3.5mm headphone jack is placed in the middle of the phone’s bottom, and the Type-C port and loudspeaker are included on the sides. The second speaker lies in the phone’s notch.

You may notice those vents on the sides of the phone, those are there for both design and audio purposes, as sports cards have such vents, and in this case, they are also small speakers. The phone does come with Harman/Kardon branding, and it sports three cameras on the back, along with a rather large fingerprint scanner which is placed below those three cameras and belonging sensors. There are several sensors included next to those cameras, but the designer did not really explain what they’re for.

It seems like the power / lock key is placed on the left-hand side of this phone, for some reason, while volume up and down buttons are included on the right. This phone is also envisioned to be IP68 certified for water and dust resistance, which is mentioned in the video.

The designer also shared some info with us that is not a part of this video, he mentioned that he envisioned this phone without wireless charging, no in-display fingerprint scanner, and no facial scanning. The phone was also envisioned in three finishes, Matte Black, Polished Red, and a combination of Matte Black and Red.

The designer also said that this imaginary phone is fueled by the Snapdragon 865, which will presumably become official later this year, and available for flagship smartphone at the very end of this or in early 2020. Android OS comes pre-installed on this device, while the designer also included 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage in this smartphone.

We have included a number of images in the gallery down below for you to check out, including an image where all three color variants are shown. In addition to that, the concept video that the designer published is embedded down below as well, in case you’d like to check it out. This phone will almost certainly never become a reality, but it’s hard to argue that it looks quite compelling.
