Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Johann Moritz Rugendas achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2017. In the Topographical Pictures auction, the work El Rapto (El Malón) sold for GBP 212,500.00 (€ 239,137.62) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 80,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Johann Moritz Rugendas - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Independencia market, Lima, which sold at auction in December 2016 for GBP 725,000.00 (€ 847,642.63).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Johann Moritz Rugendas erzielte im Dezember 2017 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Topographical Pictures wurde die Arbeit El Rapto (El Malón) für GBP 212.500,00 (€ 239.137,62) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 80.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Johann Moritz Rugendas mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Independencia market, Lima beobachtet, die im Dezember 2016 für GBP 725.000,00 (€ 847.642,63) versteigert wurde.
