Amador Perez was born in 1952 in Rio de Janeiro, where he lives and works.

During the 1960s and 1970s Perez studied at the Museum of Modern Art
in Rio de Janeiro and attended his various studios, and in 1976
graduated in Graphic Design from the School of Fine Arts of the
Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.

Amador Perez began his career in 1973 participating in the exhibition
Young Contemporary Art at the Museum of Contemporary Art of the
University of São Paulo, and held his first solo exhibition, Vaslav
Nijinsky, in 1977 at Museum of Modern Art of Rio de Janeiro. Since
1981 Perez began showing his work in the art galleries of Rio de
Janeiro and São Paulo, participating in international contemporary art
fairs in Brazil, Germany and Japan.

Perez career includes the XXI Biennial of São Paulo (1991) and several
solo exhibitions, invited by institutions such as, Centro Cultural
Banco do Brasil (Rio de Janeiro, 1992), Instituto Moreira Salles
(Poços de Caldas, 1993 - 1997, and São Paulo, 1998), Scuola
Internazionale di Grafica (Venice, 1996), Museu Nacional de Belas
Artes (Rio de Janeiro, 1998), and Paço Imperial (Rio de Janeiro,
2005).

In 2014 Perez held the exhibitions, Quantos Quadros, at Centro
Cultural Cândido Mendes, and Memorabilia, at the Centro Cultural
Correios, both in Rio de Janeiro, a celebration of 40 years of his
artistic activities. Throughout his career he has participated in
group exhibitions in Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, France,
England and China, and in 2012 Perez was invited to integrate the
exhibition Margin to the Threshold: Brazilian Art and Design in the
21st Century, at Somerset House, London.

Amador Perez works belong to important art collections, renowned
Brazilian and foreign cultural institutions, such as: Museum of Modern
Art and National Museum of Fine Arts, Rio de Janeiro; Museum of
Contemporary Art of USP (São Paulo University), Museum of Modern Art,
State Pinacoteca, São Paulo; and Latin American Art Collection of the
University of Essex (England); and also important private collections
such as Gilberto Chateaubriand and Luis Antonio de Almeida Braga in
Rio de Janeiro, Guita and José Mindlin, Bruno Musatti and Kim Esteves
in São Paulo, Harlan Blake in New York, and Richard Hedreen in
Seattle.

His career is quoted in specialized bibliographies such as, History of
General Art in Brazil (Walter Zanini, São Paulo, Instituto Moreira
Salles, 1984) and Chronology of Visual Arts in Rio de Janeiro -
1816/1994 (Frederico Morais, Rio de Janeiro, Top Books Editora, 1994).

In 1983 Perez published the book of drawings Nijinsky: Images (Amador
Perez, Rio de Janeiro), in 1999, the book Artist's Collection - Amador
Perez (Editora Fraiha, Rio de Janeiro), a summary of his work, and in
2014, the artist books, Vaslav Nijinsky: SOU and Nijinsky: Images
(Amador Perez, Hólos Arte, Rio de Janeiro).

Amador Perez has worked as a university professor since 1981, mainly
at ESDI-UERJ (Superior School of Industrial Design of the State University of Rio de Janeiro), since 1984, and for 25 years he teaches
at PUC-Rio (Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro,
Department of Arts and Design).
