Nissan Livina to Be Produced in Brazil

Nissan Motor Co. today said production of Livina has been expanded to Brazil, with this model representing the first passenger vehicle produced by the Renault-Nissan Alliance plant in San Jose dos Pinhais. “It will be Nissan's first E100 flex-fuel vehicle capable of running on both petrol and ethanol,” Nissan proudly said in a press statement.

The five-seat MPV Livina is powered by a 1.6-liter K4M engine matted to a manual transmission or by a 1.8-liter unit with automatic transmission. The new model is expected to arrive into Nissan authorized dealerships in Brazil by March. Several new vehicles will arrive in Brazil in the next few months, including the three-row seven-seats Grand Livina, Nissan stated.

“With the Livina launch, Nissan do Brasil is pursuing a strategy to strengthen its presence in the country by continuing to grow sales through the introduction of more products available through more sales outlets,” the Japanese automaker said, explaining that Brazil plays a very important role in its global evolution.

“Nissan vehicles manufactured at the Brazilian Alliance Plant meet Nissan's global quality levels following the Alliance Vehicle Evaluation Standard (AVES). Developed through the Renault-Nissan Alliance, AVES means that vehicles are evaluated before mass production by company-certified "AVES masters." The evaluation process involves more than 300 criteria based on customer expectations.”

Brazil is not the first country that gets Nissan's Livina as the vehicle is already manufactured and sold in a number of countries, including China, Indonesia, Taiwan, South Africa, Malaysia and the Philippines. Moreover, the Livina family received several awards which certify its quality, including the "Best MPV/Station Wagon 2008 (South Africa)," "The World's Most Beautiful Automobile - China MPV segment 2007" and the "Best Small MPV Monocoque 2008 (Indonesian Car of the Year)”.
