Maria Rizzo, age 97, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2024. She was the beloved wife of the late Lidio and the dear mother of John (Candice) and Paul (Melissa). Maria was a proud grandmother to Andrea (Kyle), Suzanne, John (Stacey), Kevin, Ryne, Paulie, and Raquel. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren Anthony, Jason, and Josephine.
Maria found joy and fulfillment in nurturing her passions. Gardening was not just a hobby for her; it was a source of solace and beauty. Her green thumb brought life to her surroundings and inspired those who were fortunate enough to witness her lush gardens. Maria's love extended beyond the soil; she was also an avid crocheter, weaving intricate patterns that became cherished keepsakes for her family. Her culinary talents were equally impressive, as she delighted in preparing delicious meals that brought her family together.
Family meant everything to Maria, and her devotion was evident in the warmth of her home and the love she poured into every dish. She leaves behind a treasure trove of memories, from lively family gatherings to quiet moments shared with loved ones.
Visitation will be held at the Sterling Heights Chapel of the Bagnasco & Calcaterra Funeral Home, 13650 East Fifteen Mile Road, on Monday, February 19, 2024, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. A Funeral Mass in Maria's honor will take place on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at St. Peter Catholic Church, 95 Market Street, Mt. Clemens, MI 48043. Instate at 9:00 am until the time of Mass at 9:30 am. Maria will find her final resting place at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township.
Maria Rizzo will be remembered not only for her green thumbs, creative hands, and culinary skills but also for the love and warmth she shared with all who were fortunate to know her. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved Lidio.
