No hippie can be complete without a groovy headband! There are several different types of headband that can be made out of materials found in your house or at a craft/fabric store. REMEMBER:You don't have to follow these steps exactly these are more like guide lines don't be afraid to throw a little bit of your self into your headband! Enjoy.
Steps

Take unbleached cotton string and measure around your head twice so its not too short. Extra string can be added for a fringed effect.

Cut 12 equal length strings and make a knot at the top.

Connect the tied strings to a clip board, safety pin or get someone to hold the beginning for you.

Divide the 12 strings into 3 groups of 4.

Straighten up the strings and begin to braid.

Braid all the way down, not allowing the braid to twist; then take the middle group of 3 strings and tie it to the group of strings to the left repeat for the other group of strings.

Put it around your forehead either under or on top of your first layer of hair and put on jam to some Jimi Hendrix!
Tips
- To make your headband a certain color or colors buy fabric dye available at Walmart and follow the directions on the package.
- To add beads, bells or flowers just thread it in with the braid.
- Don't be afraid to rock the headband look because if you like it who cares if you stand out.
- Go to Goodwill's and vintage stores to get a matching hippie attire.
- free flowing low maintenance long waves look the best with headbands.
- If you want a simpler head band or don't want to make your own you can always use an elastic sports headband.
Warnings
- Make sure the headband is long enough to fit around your head.
