Republica fans go wild as lead singer Saffron, 55, makes TV comeback and hasn't aged a day since the band's 90s heyday: '18-year-old me is loving this!'

Republica fans went wild as the 90s band looked as though they hadn't aged a day as they staged a lively comeback performance.

The alternative rock group sang their famous hit Ready To Go on Wednesday's episode of This Morning - wowing viewers with the throwback tune.

Lead singer Saffron Sprackling, 55, performed with gusto as she looked exactly the same as 26 years ago, when the band first released the hit.

She had the same iconic bob hairstyle with cropped fringe and red highlights.

The band were mainly popular between 1996 and 1999 and were famous for releasing singles such as Ready To Go and Drop Dead Gorgeous.

They went on hiatus in 2001 before reuniting in 2008.

Viewers were transported back to their youth by the entertaining performance, with one saying: '18-year-old me is loving this!'

Another commented on Saffron's very youthful appearance: 'It was nearly 30 years ago when Republica were in the charts. She looks good.'

Speaking to presenters Cat Deeley and Craig Doyle before the performance, Saffron shed light on signing with RCA America after releasing their self-titled debut album.

She said: 'We were overwhelmed, we were an unknown band.

'We got the call from the head of RCA America to go over there, knowing when I walked through the door that could change my life and they said yes to everything!

'We ended up touring every state in America.'

The band now consists of Saffron on vocals, Tim Dorney on the keyboard and Johnny Male on guitar and they are releasing a new single called New York.

Republica released their debut record in 1996 with their second Speed Ballads following in 1998.

However, their record label Deconstruction Records folded shortly after its release and it was never released in the United States.

In 2020 Saffron made a big change from her rock star days, working as a mental health and social care officer, working 12-hour night shifts as a frontline key worker during the Covid pandemic.

'It doesn't matter how busy I am, I have to find the time for my music,' she told The Mirror previously. 'It is vital for my mental health and is everything to me.'

She continued: 'Around the time of our second album we got caught up in record company politics beyond our control and so there is a kind of feeling of unfinished business but those times in the 1990s mostly bring back wonderful memories.'
