Mrs ‘Yemisi Ayeni

Chairman - Board of Trustees

Mrs. Ayeni is the immediate past Managing Director of Shell Nig. Closed Pension Fund Administrator Ltd, a position she held for 10 years. She is a 1985 honours graduate of Accounting and Business Finance from the prestigious University of Manchester, U.K.

 

Mrs. Ayeni is also a Chartered Accountant- a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

 

Mrs. Ayeni started her career with Price Waterhouse, London in 1985, where she spent 5 years in a variety of senior audit roles before joining the firm’s Corporate Reconstruction and Insolvency team in 1990. She returned to Nigeria in 1991 as Senior Manager in the Corporate Finance team of Price Waterhouse, Lagos.

 

Mrs. Ayeni joined Shell Nigeria in 1994 and held a wide variety of roles in various Shell companies during her 21 years there. In 2004, she became the first woman to be appointed to the Board of a Shell Company in Nigeria.

 

Mrs. Ayeni currently serves as Chairperson of NASCON Allied Industries PLC and DFAF. She is also a Non-Executive Director of Stanbic-IBTC Pension Managers Ltd. and Guinness Nigeria PLC.

Ms. Alero Alakija

Secretary

Ms. Alakija earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance from Northeastern University in Boston, U.S., and a Master’s in Management from the prestigious Cass Business School in the United Kingdom.

She has work experience in both the finance and construction sector. She worked at Stanbic IBTC Capital for almost three years as Corporate Finance Analyst, where she performed Capital Raising and Mergers & Acquisition transactions. She also interned at PricewaterhouseCoopers (Boston), Merrill Lynch (London), KPMG (Lagos), and Citibank (Lagos). Ms. Alakija worked at Mitsulift Nigeria Ltd, where she has worked for over three years as the Sales Manager and managed logistics for the company.

Ms. Alakija is an avid traveller and actively involved in a Christian Ministry with a focus on empowering the youths in Nigeria, and currently serves as the Secretary for DFAF.

Dr. Adetokunbo Alakija

Board Member

Dr. Alakija is currently the Medical Director at Q-Life Family Clinic and the foremost travel medicine consultant in Nigeria. He is a graduate of the College of Medicine of the University of Lagos (MBBS). He is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School and also has an MBA from IESE Business School Spain, a Diploma in Travel Medicine from The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Glasgow, and is a Full Member of the Faculty of Travel Medicine, MFTM RCPS (Glasg). In recognition of his excellence in the field of travel medicine, he was awarded a Certificate in Travel Health from the International Society of Travel Medicine.

In addition to his medical background, Dr. Alakija has worked in the corporate world and combined those skills. He has experience in Construction, Insurance and for a brief while, Oil and Gas.


Dr. Alakija is an avid golf, enjoys swimming, tennis and walking. He is a member of many social clubs, including Met Club, LMBC, Polo Club, and other national and international associations and societies. He is on the Board of DFAF and the Nigerian Conservation Foundation.

Mr. Adelowo Adesola

Board Member

Mr. Adesola graduated from the University of Ibadan in 1981 and holds an MBA from IESE Business School Spain, in collaboration with Lagos Business School (LBS).

He has over 30 years experience in the Information Technology industry in Nigeria, with 11 years spent as Managing Director of Inlaks Computers Ltd. During his tenure as Managing Director of Inlaks, he significantly grew the revenue and profitability of the company through product innovation and geographical expansion in the continent; particularly in five West African Countries.

 

Currently, Mr. Adesola is engaged with various venture capital / entrepreneurial ventures initiatives in the information technology market. i.e payment systems, enterprise application software solutions for businesses and IT infrastructures.


In addition to serving on the board of DFAF, Mr. Adesola also serves as an Independent Director in the Companies in the Marine and Shipping, Hospitality and Manufacturing sectors. He is a member of the Institute of Directors.

Dr. Enase Okonedo

Board Member

Dr. Okonedo is Dean of Lagos Business School (LBS), Nigeria. She sets the strategic direction for the School and oversees all academic and administrative matters. She earned her MBA from IESE Business School, Barcelona, and a Doctorate in Business Administration from International School of Management (ISM), Paris. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and an accomplished professional with more than 30 years’ experience in the financial services and management education sectors. In 2015, she was conferred as a Fellow of the Society of Corporate Governance Nigeria (SCGN).

She is the Secretary-Treasurer of AACSB International Board of Directors and serves as a member of the academic advisory board of the Global Business School Network (GBSN). She is also a member of the Panel of Advisors, Africa Initiative for Governance, a member of the International Advisory Board of Porto Business School, as well as a member of the Academic Advisory Board, Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford. She was Chairperson of the Association of African Business Schools (AABS) and was listed by a leading Nigerian daily as one of the 50 Most Influential Nigerians in 2017

Dr. Okonedo is the President of AIFA Reading Nigeria. She is also a member of several boards in the banking, energy, food and beverage sectors, and serves on the board of DFAF.

Mrs. Ibukun Awosika

Board Member

Mrs. Awosika is the first woman to be appointed as Chairman of First Bank of Nigeria. She is also the founder and CEO of The Chair Centre Group. She graduated with a B.Sc in Chemistry from Obafemi Awolowo University, and an alumna of the Chief Executive Programme of Lagos Business School, Global Executive MBA of IESE Business School, Barcelona-Spain, and Global CEO Programme of Wharton, IESE and China European International Business School.

She chairs a number of corporate and not-for-profit boards including Convention on Business Integrity, House of Tara International and Afterschool Graduate Development Centre. She sits on the boards of Cadbury Nigeria Plc., Digital Jewel Limited, International Women's Entrepreneurial Challenge (IWEC), Imperial Gate School and Peniel Apartments Limited. Mrs. Awosika is a co-founder and past chairperson of Women in Business, Management and Public Service (WIMBIZ). In addition, she sits on the International Advisory Board of IESE Business School, Barcelona-Spain.

Mrs. Awosika is an ordained Pastor and founder of Christian Missionary Fund, Mrs. Awosika, through this faith-based organization works with hundreds of missionaries spread across Nigeria to change lives with the provision of medical, educational, and other supplies.

 

Mrs. Awosika is the first Nigerian recipient of the International Women Entrepreneurial Challenge (IWEC) Award.

Dr. Olayinka Olowojolu

Board Member

Dr. Olowojolu graduated from the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan in 2004. After his internship and NYSC in Ekiti and Bayelsa States respectively, he worked with Lagoon Hospital, Apapa from 2007 to 2012. Joining as a Medical Officer, he exited the organization as Out-Patient Care Coordinator and HIV Clinic Coordinator. He was also involved in preparation of guidelines for management of health conditions and served as a facilitator for hospital staff training.

Dr. Olowojolu joined Q-Life Family Clinic in 2012 as Senior Medical Officer. In addition to his clinical work, he is part of the Clinic’s management team and appointed as Panel Physician for the U.S. Consulate/Center for Disease Control (CDC) as well as Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) in 2018.

Dr. Olowojolu has postgraduate training in Public Health and Infectious Diseases. He also has certificates in HIV/AIDS Prevention, Treatment, Care and Support, Global Tuberculosis Clinical Management and Research. He is a member of the Society for Quality Healthcare in Nigeria (SQHN), International Society for Infectious Diseases (ISID), and International Panel Physicians’ Association (IPPA).

He serves as Assistant Pastor at The Grace Community Church, Lagos. He is on the Board of DFAF and also on the board of Teen Guide Africa, a faith-based non-profit organization with a focus on youth mentorship.

Reverend Olubukunola Ogunkanmi

Board Member

Rev. Olubukunola Ireti Ogunkanmi (née Durojaiye) earned her LL.B in 1985 from University of Ife, now known as Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and her B.L. in 1986 from Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos. She worked with Bouygues Construction Company, Abuja where she advanced the corporate affairs dynamism of the organization. She later joined Corporate Affairs Commission, Abuja in June 1991 as a Principal Registrar and voluntarily retired as an Assistant Director in 2006.

 

Rev. Ogunkanmi was called into pastoral ministry in 1988 and was ordained Reverend in 2015. She oversees the Good Women’s Fellowship of Christ Gospel Mission Int., where her husband, Rev. Victor Ogunkanmi is the General Overseer. She is the convener of the Women of the Word (WOW) conference, and founder and Chairman of Couples’ Delight, an NGO that is for promoting healthy relationships, and enriching the institution of marriage. She also serves on the board of DFAF.
