Jake Gyllenhaal On Exfoliation, Skincare And Why Showering Is A Spiritual Practice

Arguably one of our all time top man crushes since the early 2000s (Donnie Darko, anyone?), Jake Gyllenhaal came back into our lives this summer as the villain we all hated to love in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Despite jetsetting around the world for a global press tour, we have to say, the actor's skin looks insanely good.

So good, in fact, that the topic was brought up whilst Gyllenhaal was promoting his new Broadway show, Sea Wall/ A Life during an interview with Vanity Fair. In the feature, Gyllenhaal preaches his go-to skincare commandments, and frankly, we wholeheartedly agree with the 38-year-old's pristine face routine.

When asked about what he does to decompress from a hard day at work Gyllenhaal said: ‘I do believe in showering as a spiritual practice and a physical practice’. So Hollywood actor Jake Gyllenhaal contemplates his life during a shower as well - good to know...

His top wellness secret? Sweating. ‘I believe in sweat, in whatever form. And then I believe in the balance of rest and exercise’. We're guessing he's referencing a good gym session rather than sweating endlessly on the Central line, but we'll take whatever we can get. Sweat patches endorsed by Jake Gyllenhaal? We're into it.

Continuing, Gyllenhaal told Vanity Fair that a good skincare routine has been ingrained in him from an early age, thanks to his fellow actor and sister, Maggie Gyllenhaal. ‘She has taught me since I was a kid [that] skincare is important. It’s really important, particularly nowadays as men’.
