Dali commented: "The rhino horn is indeed the legendary unicorn horn, symbol of chastity. The young lady may choose to lie on it, or to morally play with it; as it was usual in courtesan love epochs." The model is Dali's beloved sister, Ana Maria. After she described her brother in a way that he didn’t like for a book, Dalí painted this; a more risque version of "Person at the Window." (1925)
