Emmérico Nunes was a Portuguese modernist artist whose comic work was published in magazines like ABC-Zinho and Comércio do Porto Ilustrado. In this last magazine, he published stories with an ironic vision of the national culture, and he parodied several intellectuals. Later on, Nunes worked for the magazine Ilustração. He was also active in Germany, where he collaborated on the magazine Meggendorfer Blätter. For the German market, he made mostly cartoons and illustrations.
