When we started our podcast, Abby Jones and I were focused on staying in the sports broadcasting game — focusing on getting reps with interviews and editing content.
Last week we shared an episode featuring a great friend of mine from college, Emma McLean, and after this episode we realized this podcast is an opportunity for so much more. Emma was brave in sharing her story of overcoming over 6 years of Larry Nassar's sexual assault. She opened up to us about how she transformed a criminal tragedy into an empowering lesson for herself and other survivors. She also shares her thoughts on how we can work to educate children, especially young girls, about their bodies and healthy relationships in order to avoid such tragedies from occurring again.
This was an important conversation and an important lesson for all people — parents, athletes, young women, etc. We're proud that this episode has had several hundred listens so far and blown all our previous episodes out of the water. I hope you all will listen, follow, share, and give us your feedback! Abby and I are excited to continue to focus on important conversations like this as we move forward with our podcast.
