5 reasons I'm divorcing allyship, let's talk about y'all, because your girl is tired. Over the years I have witnessed the meaning of allyship be watered down to made more digestible for the masses. It really gives me the ick. I decided to remove allyship from my consulting and training work, and focus on relationship building. Here is my incomplete list of why I'm divorcing allyship: 1. Lack of meaningful relationship 2. Too much lip service (activates my nervous system in the most terrible ways) 3. Lack of accountability & responsibility 4. Too invested in the binary of good & bad 5. I’m am so happy you brought this up, the realm of allyship has definitely been waterdown especially the “lip service “ Relationship building is definitely the way to go.
