Remember what the Statue of Liberty and the Wall Street Bull symbolize

We planned to visit the Statue of Liberty on the sixth day of our Brooklyn vacation. We took the ferry at Dumbo stop and got off at Wall Street. This is our first New York ferry, not as customer-friendly as the one in Venice.

By the time we finally reached the ferry to the Ellis Island, there were plenty of people. Someone working there told us, go get your ticket first! Another person kindly informed us, all tickets are sold out for today and tomorrow. No wonder there were people around trying to sell us tickets at a markup. There were too many people to be fun any more. So we gave up.

Since it's not far from Wall Street, we decided to make a pilgrimage to the famous Bull. Here came another surprise when I saw another long line of people around the bull. One person posed for a photo holding the bull horn. A father told his son to hug the bull leg for a picture, hoping his son will get some bullish luck. People were waiting to take a picture with the bull.

I think, to many people, both Statue of Liberty and the Wall Street Bull symbolize American dreams: of liberty and the pursuit of happiness, and of the rags to riches success. These visitors are like pilgrims to their sacred places.

As I wasn't able to get closer to the Statue of Liberty, I could only admire it from afar, remembering always what it symbolizes to millions of people from far and wide. As to the Wall Street Bull, good luck to those who wish to get bullish in the year 2024.
