Schalke considering Raul for head coaching position -report

Could the Real Madrid legend leave Castilla to coach his former club in the Bundesliga?

FC Augsburg v FC Schalke 04 - Bundesliga

It hasn’t been an easy season for Schalke 04 and the German club are already considering a list of names for their head coaching positionin the 2020-2021 season. Real Madrid legend and current Castilla coach Raul Gonzalez is one of the candidates, according to German newspaper Sport Bild. Ralf Rangnick, Ralph Hasenhüttl and Roger Schmidt are the other three names mentioned in the report.

Raul played for Schalke for two seasons and is considered a legend in the German club, so perhaps that move could make sense for both parts as Raul tries to get more experience before potentially becoming the coach of Real Madrid’s first team as Zidane’s successor.

As one of the greatest attackers in the history of football, Raul definitely has the reputation and the pedigree to get a chance to coach an elite team.

What happens after that will depend entirely on the decisions he makes as a manager, so it will be interesting to see if he can coach Real Madrid in the near future.
