MultiVersus Adds Gizmo from 'Gremlins' as New Playable Character

MultiVersus, the Super Smash Bros.-esque arena fighter from Warner Bros., just welcomed its newest fighter. Gizmo from Gremlins joins the already packed roster as the fourth support character.

Gizmo is the latest option to come to MultiVersus from Gremlins, after the official confirmation that the villainous Stripe would also be making an appearance. But while Stripe is a more unfriendly presence, Gizmo is the face of the Gremlins films.

Gizmo comes with a variety of abilities as a support fighter, including Hunter's Bow, Gizmo-A-Go-Go, and Song of the Mogwai, all of which sound like they could be useful additions to a well-rounded team. He's "as ferocious as he is adorable," according to Player First Games.

Here's the good news: If you're interested in playing as Gizmo, you don't have to wait. You can jump into MultiVersus right now and give him a try. Originally, Gizmo was scheduled for a September 6 release. His appearance was pushed back a couple of days, needing a bit more time to "coerce him out of his box," Player First Games said. But now he's available alongside the other MultiVersus Season 1 characters, like Morty Smith of Rick and Morty fame.

MultiVersus: Who is Gizmo?

If you're looking for a reason to jump in-game and start annihilating opponents as Gizmo, despite his support status, you probably want a quick refresher on just who he is, exactly.

Gizmo is a kind little creature called a Mogwai. He lives with his owner Billy Peltzer, and together the pair defeat the evil gremlins every time they wreak havoc on the citizens of New York.

This little furry friend is cute and lovable, but he's also adept with weapons, TVs, toy cars, trumpets and plenty of other things. He especially loves spending long hours in front of the TV. But as cute as Gizmo is, there are a few things you should never do with a Mogwai: place it near sunlight, let it get wet, or feed it after midnight.

We'll let you get up to speed with the Gremlins films, but this little buddy is capable of some significant, wanton destruction if any of those things happen—which they do, of course, in the movies. And now you can control Gizmo to your heart's content as part of your MultiVersus team. Or make him your new main. Whatever you want.

MultiVersus is available to play for free right now.
