A woman in Texas made a startling discovery when she was cleaning out her purse after a night out.

TikTok user Sheridan Ellis was going through her bag when she found a tracking device within, sharing her experience on the social media platform and promptly going viral.

“So quick story time-slash-PSA, for the ‘what it’s worth’ category,” begins Ellis in the video. “This weekend on Saturday I went to dinner with a group of friends for this girl’s birthday. If you know me, I don’t normally carry a purse, but on Saturday I did because we had decorations and stuff for the table.”

Ellis continues to explain that as the night wound down, she began cleaning out her purse. That was when she saw a strange-looking device that hadn’t been there before.

“If you don’t know what this is, it’s a Tile,” states Ellis, holding the item up to the camera. “It’s basically a tracker, people put it on their keys and whatnot. It’s not mine, I don’t know how it got in my purse.”

Newsweek reports that Ellis had asked fellow partygoers whether the device was theirs to no avail. She additionally confirms that she immediately took the battery out and decided against going to the police because she remains unsure as to when the Tile was put in her bag. Furthermore, she’s not all too keen on putting the battery back in.

“Check your purses,” advises Ellis to end the video. “And stay safe out there.”
