      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Two and a Half Men's inaugural season rises above its sitcom formula with a rapid-fire clip of bawdy quips as well as the sparky chemistry between stars Jon Cryer and Charlie Sheen.

Mike P For all the bruhaha surrounding this show; it's really just The Odd Couple and My Two Dads spliced together. With a dark sensibility injected to make it seem early millennials hip... Starring Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer; it's an Odd Couple brotherhood; where Sheen plays the bad boy, and Cryer plays the nerdy goody two shoes; and then we have Cryer's precocious son in there to mix things up...And it's a massively popular Chuck Lorre family sitcom that tried REALLY hard to be dark and inappropriate. And to have a cool, frat boy vibe...And it kind of tip toed around all this Farrelly Brothers and gross out humor type stuff; all this dark stand up comedian comedy Central SNL type stuff. But at it's core it's actually pretty sweet; and old fashioned, even... A found family of three; the Harpers; and their maid, mother and various Interlopers; and all of them trying to get through life; helping each other along. Occasionally making a vicious quip here and there. But it's all out of love really... And they're ALL jaw droppingly eccentric and inappropriate at times...But they're still good people. Overall: recommended. 👍 Cute frat boy comedy from the tv factory of the Odd Couple, My Two Dads and My Three Sons; which is both edgy and old fashioned in one fell swoop... Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/28/24 Full Review Kim T Personally I think the show was cast very well and had plenty of laughs but should have stopped after Charlie left. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 09/23/23 Full Review Conta N Uma das melhores séries de comédia de todos os tempos. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Season 1 is the best season of "Two and a Half Men". Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Two and a half men is probably the "Greatest" comedy on TV! It isn't even close!! The writing and acting is extremely unique making it fun to watch when your in a bad mood or ending your day. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a great show, but the only reason why I give it 4 and a 1/2 stars is because certain episodes are hit or miss. Which means that certain episodes are funnier than others. This show is hilarious, however not for children under the age of 13 or 14, depending on the young teens' maturity level. It is a laugh your pants off good time. There's a lot of times when I laughed and laughed quite hard. Charlie Sheen is amazing as Charlie Harper, but I'm sad that he didn't come back after awhile. For me there is no two and a half men without Charlie Sheen. The story is funny and absolutely brilliant. Everyone should check this show out at some point. But I think that men will like it better than women. Just like Family Guy, this is a TV show that targets the men for an audience. The viewers are mostly men I believe. It's a great show that I've enjoyed watching over the years. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Tom Shales Washington Post So sweet and light that it seems to have been applied to the TV screen via aerosol container, like jet-propelled whipped cream. Sep 11, 2018 Full Review Robin Oliver Sydney Morning Herald I'm cheerfully offering Thumbs Up, because I can't wipe this silly smile off my face. Feb 27, 2018 Full Review Dennis Cass Slate It's professional and competent, but not inspired. Call it Good Enough TV. Sep 18, 2013 Full Review Cary O'Dell PopMatters Two and a Half Men could sure use one or two fresh ideas. Sep 17, 2013 Full Review Rob Owen Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Well-cast, well written and actually funny (imagine that!), this one's a keeper. Sep 17, 2013 Full Review Kari Croop Common Sense Media With Mel Brooks' pen it might work, but instead, Two and a Half Men falls into the dreaded sitcom trap of predictable story lines about boys chasing girls, and lame jokes about hookers and phone sex.
