Tabebuia impetiginosa PINK TRUMPET TREE, IPE ROXO
Considered to have medicinal uses, the Tabebuia impetiginosa has been studied since the 1800s for use in inflammatory and cancer infirmities, although this is widely debated. The tree itself displays beautiful light pink flowers before leaves appear in the spring. A slow growing tree, the pink trumpet tree can reach heights of 90 feet with most of the foliage growing in the upper third of the plant. Neither Percy Broell (1937) nor Chauncy Jerabek (1969) mention Tabebuia impetiginosa (formerly: Handroanthus impetiginosus) thus indicating this specimen was planted after 1969. |
