Why is 'Mark Ruffalo dead' trending?

Hollywood superstar Mark Ruffalo has fallen victim to an internet hoax that he has died.

One website, known for creating fake death announcements, reported that a Facebook page had been created dedicated to the actor's passing.

The post on the alleged page read: “At about 11 a.m. ET on Tuesday (November 07, 2023), our beloved actor Mark Ruffalo passed away.

"Mark Ruffalo was born on November 22, 1967 in Kenosha. He will be missed but not forgotten.

However, not only does the Facebook page not exist, neither does the post announcing Ruffalo's death.

The fictional article even stated Ruffalo's representatives officially confirmed that he is not dead.

It reported: “He joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax.

"He's still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet."

And that is DEFINITELY true, as Ruffalo is alive and well.

However he has faced tragedy in his life, when his brother Scott died after being shot in his Beverly Hills condo at the age of 39 in 2008.
