She tweeted: "On a micro level, i have decided to retire and will be moving to the west of Ireland."

But when asked where, she appears to not be aware of the geography as she replied: "Maybe Donegal. Not too far from Cork."

In the streams of replies, Mia added that she has heritage here and an Irish passport.

The American native said: "My family is in Ireland - my mum was born there. I have an Irish passport."

Farrow was earlier this year accused of "brainwashing" her children as her son defended her ex and his father Woody Allen.

A lurid sex allegation against Allen had threatened to end his 60-year career after a succession of Hollywood titans were brought down by the #MeToo movement.

But his adopted son Moses trashed the decades-old claim that the director molested his adopted daughter Dylan when she was seven.

In a detailed 4,600-word account which he posted online in May, Moses, 40, placed the blame for the director’s predicament firmly on his bitter mother Mia, who he claimed had “brainwashed” his siblings.

According to him, the actress coached Dylan to repeat the slur to get back at Allen over a seedy affair, branded her ex as “evil” and handed out beatings to her kids.

Moses wrote: “I feel that I can no longer stay silent as my father continues to be condemned for a crime he did not commit.”

Directly addressing his mother, Moses called for an end to the witch-hunt which has seen his dad publicly shunned by movie stars including Colin Firth.

Farrow, mum to four biological and seven adopted children, said her son's claims were "completely made up."

Dylan Farrow responded to the post saying that her brother sought to “impugn my mother who has only ever been supportive of me and my siblings," adding : "I’m so sorry he’s doing this."

Investigative journalist Ronan Farrow also defended his mother by saying: "I believe my sister."
