The beautiful Galleria Vittorio Emanuele has been built in neoclassical style in 1865 and it is located next to the beautiful Piazza Duomo.
From the Gallery you can admire a wonderful view of the magnificent Cathedral and the Piazza della Scala, where the most famous Milan’s theater is situated.
The Gallery is known worldwide for its elegant shops and designer labels, and it is everyday frequented by millions of tourists who come here in any period of the year to admire its architectural beauty, to spend an afternoon of shopping or to enjoy a coffee or, during summer, eating a delicious ice cream in the many restaurants and bars that it hosts.
The mosaics on the floor of the gallery are about the emblem of the House of Savoy and important zodiac signs: placing the heel on the testicles of the bull it is said to bring a lot of luck to the visitors of Milan. The Gallery, as many other buildings and monuments of the city, has been badly hit during the bombing of the Second World War in 1943 and reconstructed in detail only in later period, trying to bring back it to its original spirit of glory.
