Polymer clay is very different from the earthen clay you throw on a wheel.  It doesn't work the same.  For polymer clay you can shape it, use tools and do all sorts of amazing techniques but not on a potter's wheel.  Another difference is that you bake polymer clay in the home oven at the how temperature of 275 F  and not in a kiln.

Can you use this product on a Potter&#39;s wheel?

Sturdy and detailed

The Sculpey Firm was exactly what I needed for an armatured horse scupture. The firm clay held the muscle tone and was firm enough to use tools for details. Cut the clay in the shapes of muscles and tendons and lay them upon the armature. Softer clays do not perform well using this method.

very good clay, great results, hard to condition and keep pliable before molding/sculpting.

Sculpey seems to have changed the formula of Sculpey Firm as it is no longer as firm as it once was. It's still harder than the Original, but it doesn't live up to the "Firm" moniker, or my sculpting needs. I may need to find an alternative if this is a permanent change.

The Firm clay is much softer than it used to be.

Nice to work before baking, holds shape well but brittle and snaps after curing so no good really and only available in grey, why no black??
