Beaches close in anticipation of large gathering of youth

STRATFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - Two beaches have closed in town today due to a concern over public safety.
According to the town of Stratford, both Short and Long beaches closed Tuesday at 4 p.m. due to the anticipation of a large gathering of youth.
A post from the town on social media stated the beaches are still open for sporting activities and golf.
Police department personnel will be posted at the entrance to the beaches and the department is actively monitoring the area to ensure safety.
