Millions of people have viewed Johnnie Cluney's drawings on their computer screens, but for the first time now, Daytrotter's illustrator is showing off his portraits in person.

For the past nine years, Cluney has sketched the up-and-coming musicians who pass through Daytrotter's studios. More than 5,000 sessions have been recorded and posted online for subscribers to listen to, share, and download. Each one is accompanied by Cluney's artwork.

Beginning March 6, 2015, some of those pictures will be on display at Rozz-Tox in Rock Island.

"It's cool. I don't know why I waited so long to show it," said Cluney.

Cluney picked out some of his favorites for the show, including Wilco, Iron and Wine, Bon Iver, and Pieta Brown.

The exhibition is a trip down memory lane for Cluney, who's been with Daytrotter since it began back in 2006. He admits he had no idea things would take off like they did. In fact, in the early months, Cluney didn't even own a computer.

"We were just kinda off the grid, so it was cool, because I would give my illustrations to one of our investors, I'd put them in the mailbox in the morning, and then he'd pick them up and go scan them and upload them. And I had no idea. I really wouldn't check out the site," said Cluney.

Today, Daytrotter.com draws nearly 20,000 visitors a day.

"The coolest part is that it's natural, so natural for me just to do what I do for a living. I don't know, I always thought if you can say that you like going to work, if you like your job, then life is probably pretty easy," said Cluney.

The artwork will be on display at Rozz-Tox through Sunday, March 29th.
