NO KO

Tyron Woodley wasn’t contractually allowed to knock out Jake Paul in their first clash, Dillon Danis claims as YouTuber prepares for rematch

Tyron Woodley had the whole mixed martial arts world behind him when he took on Jake Paul in August, but the former UFC welterweight champion lost a split decision.

There was a moment in the fight, though, where Woodley had Paul stunned against the ropes. Had they not been there to hold him up, the YouTuber-turned professional boxer would have almost certainly been knocked down for the first time in his career.

Woodley didn’t really apply the pressure when he had Paul hurt like many hoped he would but Conor McGregor's training partner, Dillion Danis, has suggested Woodley wasn’t contractually allowed to knock Paul out.

Appearing on The MMA Hour, he claimed: “Tyron Woodley, from what I heard, had it in the contract that he was not allowed to knock out Jake Paul.

“I swear on anything he was against the ropes, I swear, that’s why when Jake Paul was against the ropes, Tyron Woodley didn’t hit him.

"I’m telling you right now. It was in his contract where it said you’re not allowed to knock him out.”

While Woodley didn’t go for the kill like many fans expected and/or hoped, that doesn’t seem like something one could write into a contract for a professional boxing fight.

Paul picked up the victory and moved to 4-0 with three knockouts to his name and has since dismissed claims that he has such clauses inserted.

When asked about the comments, Jake told reporters: “Look, it’s a bunch of losers trying to make s*** up to get in the headlines.

“And to get reporters like yourself to ask about that exact question and put their name into the mix so they can get a little bit of clout.

“Having a ‘no knockout clause’ in a contract – I’ve never heard of that.

“It’s highly illegal, I would be in jail. That’s like rigging a fight. I would be in prison if that was a real thing.

“It’s all nonsense, it’s all bulls*** and they got exactly what they wanted out of it, which was for people to mention their name.”

Tommy Fury has pulled out of his bout with Jake Paul

The Problem Child was set to fight Tommy Fury next on December 18 in Tampa, Florida.

But Fury had to pull out due to 'a bacterial chest infection and broken rib', saying he is 'absolutely heartbroken'.

Paul is now set to face Woodley again in a rematch of their first bout.

He said: “It is official, Tommy Fury is boxing’s biggest b****.

“He has pulled out of the fight, the Furys have pulled out of the fight due to a medical condition.

“The good news is Mr Tyron Woodley – we called him up and were like, ‘Hey do you wanna take the fight?’

“He has been training, he goes, ‘Sure, I’ll take the fight, let’s do the rematch.’

“I’m giving him $500,000 extra if he can knock me out.

“Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley 2 – leave no doubt. I didn’t knock him out the first time, I’m coming back and I’m getting that crazy highlight-reel knockout.”
