Alicia Keys Hits the Roller Rink in Hazy ‘Time Machine’ Video Starring Tierra Whack

Trending on Billboard

Alicia Keys is keeping the ball rolling toward her untitled seventh studio album. Keys unleashed a dreamy visual with “Time Machine” on Wednesday (Nov. 20), which features a cameo from Tierra Whack.

The video is co-directed by Art Johnson and Alicia’s brother Cole Cook. The funky production heard on the single is a stark change compared to the heavy key-laden records we’ve become accustomed to from Keys recently.

As for the clip, the NYC native skates around a dimly lit roller skating rink with her girl gang in vibrant-colored clothing that is oozing with ’90s vibes. She’s then woken up from a daze by Tierra Whack, who calls her out for always being asleep on the job.

“It feels like a skating song to me,” Keys told Entertainment Weekly of the track. “Like after you’ve gone around a few times, and you finally get your legs and you’re free and you’re just able to completely be yourself — not worried about am I gonna fall? Am I gonna trip? Is someone going to bump into me?”

With the Grammy nominations being doled out Wednesday (Nov. 20), we’d be remiss to not mention that Keys will be on hosting dutes once again come Jan. 26 when the esteemed award show kicks off at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
