Two years ago, the Cannes Film Festival made headlines for turning away women who donned flats on the red carpet. Fast forward to earlier today, and French actress Marion Cotillard defied convention —and ruled her photocall for the film 355 like a badass. The punctuating piece of her look? Nicholas Kirkwood’s lace-up flat boots.
Cotillard, a mainstay on best-dressed lists for her directional on- and off-duty style, used the mannish rocker-inspired footwear to offset the polished nature of her strapless, sparkling dress. But this being Cannes, her footwear had a haute touch, thanks to its satin finish and pearl trim. Rounding out the cool-girl vibes were futuristic cat-eye shades by Le Specs and Chanel cuffs, worn as a set a la Wonder Woman.
