Incident affecting Gmail, Google Chat, Google Docs, Google Meet, Google Sheets, and Google Slides

Incident began at 2025-05-13 15:08 and ended at 2025-05-13 18:36 (times are in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC)).

Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides recovered as of 08:15 US/Pacific time.

Gmail User Interface, Google Meet recovered as of 09:10 US/Pacific time.

Gmail SMTP issues were resolved as of 10:00 US/Pacific time.

Google Chat issues were resolved as of 11:36 US/Pacific time.

Preliminary analysis indicates a datacenter power issue overloaded the backend storage system, causing intermittent customer traffic disruptions. Automated systems recovered some services, while engineers mitigated the remaining impact by rerouting traffic from the affected datacenter and also provisioned additional resources.
