Who are Mord-Sith?

Denna

Long auburn hair.

Brown eyes.

Slightest wisp of a smile.

Perfect teeth.

She has a childlike beauty to her face.

Denna is the most skilled Mord-Sith, and is called on first to train special people.

Denna has had many mates. All her mates died after a short time of being her mate.

She is relentless. She is not as cruel as some of the other Mord-Sith, but she enjoys breaking a man more than any of them.

She loves hurting her pets more than anything in life. She lives to do it. She doesn't give up, she never tires of it, and she doesn't ever ease up on it.

Denna would pair up with a sister Mord-Sith and they would both place their Agiel's in their pet's ears, one on each side. "

He would make a scream unlike any other. The sound of it is intoxicating. I get chills just thinking about it."

She does not eat meat because Lord Rahl doesn't eat meat, and if he caught a Mord-Sith eating meat, he would punish her severely.

All Mord-Sith are vegetarians because of this.

A man named Rastin trained Denna. He broke Denna, took her as his mate, and later Denna killed him, then was punished with

the Agiel for 2 years everyday after that. When Denna was being trained, Denna would do anything Constance said.

Master Rahl thought Denna special because they had a very difficult time with the second breaking of her.

Her mother lived a long time, to try to keep Denna from giving up hope, but that only made it harder on both of them.

They failed at the third breaking, had given up, and were going to kill her, but Darken Rahl said that if

she could be broken, Denna would be someone special, and so took over the training

himself. Darken Rahl broke Denna the third time. On the day she killed her

father, Darken Rahl to her to his bed, as a reward. His reward left her barren.

"He loves you. I used that love to hurt him. I took him to the brink of death and held him there, on the cusp.

Others would bring a man to the edge faster, but they couldn't hold him there. They always

went one step too far, too quickly, and killed them, ending it before they would extract the

most exquisite pain, inflict the cruelest of the insanity. Darken Rahl chose me because I had a talent

for keeping them alive and giving them that pain, and then more, and then even more.

Darken Rahl himself taught me. I had to sit for hours, sometimes, and wait, knowing

that if I touched him just once more with the Agiel, it would be one touch too

many; it would kill him. As I sat, waiting for him to recover enough so that I might

hurt him more, he would whisper your name, over and over, for hours. He wasn't

even aware he was doing it. You were the thread that kept him alive. It was the one

thread that allowed me to give him that extra pain. Allowed me to take  him further

toward death, deeper into madness. I used his love fo ryou to punish him beyond

anything otherwise possible. As I would sit there, listening to him whisper your name,

I wished it would once, just once, have been my name he called out.

It never was. I hurt him more for that than for anything else."

Constance

A good head shorter than Denna.

She has a stout figure.

She has dull brown hair.

She does not take mates because it disgusts her.

Constance does not possess the same compassion as Denna; her Agiel use is hard, harsh and angry.

She never smiles during training and she never gives any pauses.

She works with rhythmic timing, never allowing her pets rest.

She hates men. Every time she kills one, she cries out the name of the man who

first broke her, Rastin. Before Rastin broke Denna, Rastin was Constance's trainer.

Rastin also broke Constance. Constance was the one who told Denna how to kill him.

Because it was Denna who killed Rastin, Constance would do anything for Denna.

Constance died as a result of Denna's Agiel being driven into her chest, by Richard.

Cara

Blue eyes, thick blond braid. Fiercely protective of Lord Rahl. In the beginning of

Blood of the Fold, Cara is with Berdine, Raina and Hally, her sisters of the Agiel.

Cara is introduced at the end of Stone of Tears, on page 944 in the paperback edition.
"The biggest, a blond-headed woman at the lead, held her hands out as he went for her. 'Lord Rahl, no!'

"The other five slid to a stop behind her. Richard slashed at her, but she lurched back into a half crouch with her hands held out to the sides.

'Lord Rahl! Stop! We are here to help you!'

"Though he had put the sword away, he had no shortage of rage of his own.

He had to get to Darken Rahl if he was to get to Kahlan. 'Help me in the afterlife--you will be there shortly!'

'No, Lord Rahl! I am Cara. We are here to help you. You cannot go that way. That hall is not secure.'

...'I don't believe you. You want to capture me. I know very well what Mord-Sith do to their captives.'

'I knew Denna, your mistress. You wear her Agiel. Mord-Sith do not live to hurt their captives any longer. You set us free. We would never hurt the one who set us free. We revere you.'

'When I left here, I told the soldiers to burn all those outfits and  give you new

clothes. I ordered the Agiel taken from you. If you revere me, why have you not followed my orders?'

A sly smile touched her lips as she lifted an eyebrow over a cold, blue eye.

'Because you cannot free us just to enslave us in a life you choose. We are free to

choose for ourselves. You made that possible. We chose to fight to protect our

Lord Rahl. We have sworn to lay down our lives for you, if necessary. Not only

the men of the First File can protect you. We have chosen to be your personal

bodyguards. Not even the First File dared argue with us. We take orders from no one but Lord Rahl.'

'Then I order you to leave me alone!'

'I'm sorry, Lord Rahl, but we cannot follow that order.'

Berdine

Shorter than Hally. Blue-eyed. Loose braid of wavy brown hair.

Raina

Shorter than Hally. Dark hair with bangs, and eyes that seemed to examine Richard's

soul for every nuance of strength, weakness, and character - an idiosyncratic,

piercing scrutiny unique to Mord-Sith. Her dark eyes made the penetrating judgment seem more incisive.

"Raina's dark eyes fixed on his with that look that Mord-Sith flashed when they

expected compliance, and no argument;

a steely gaze that seemed to paralyze his tongue."

"He took an aggressive step forward, one too many, and lifted a threatening finger

toward them. In a blink, Raina had her Agiel on his shoulder, dropping him to his

knees. She canted it up, pressing the tip into the nerve at the side of his neck.

His shriek echoed through the halls. The rest of the men flinched back. 'You answer

questions,' Raina said in the unmistakable, smoldering tone of a Mord-Sith in

complete control, 'you don't ask them.' The man's whole body convulsed as he

screamed. Raina leaned toward him, her red leather creaking.

'I grant you but one more chance. Where is General Reibisch?'

Hally

Blond, blue-eyed and tall. Her character was lived short, and she died in the beginning of BOTF.

"Hally, her red leather standing out in sharp contrast to her blond hair, stood stooped

with her arms folded across her abdomen. Her Agiel dangled from its chain at her wrist. Her face was ashen.
As Richard looked down, a tingle of icy dread flushed across his flesh. Her red

leather had hidden what he now saw; she was standing in a pool of blood. Her blood.

...She gripped his shirt with a bloody hand. 'Thank you, Lord Rahl . . . for my freedom.'

She struggled to take a shallow breath. 'As brief as it was . . . it was

worth . . the price.' She looked to her sisters of the Agiel. "Protect him . . .'

With a sickening wheeze, the air left her lungs for the last time. Her sightless eyes stared up at him."
