For our June/July issue's Where the Heart Is portfolio, celebrities, and beauty pros share portraits and thoughts while staying at home during the pandemic. Huntington-Whiteley (above) is in Los Angeles with her partner, actor Jason Statham, and their son, Jack.

As told to David DeNicolo.

I wanted to throw on a red lip [for this photo] because I felt it was bright and happy. I hadn't really worn any makeup for the last three weeks being in isolation. And then I just did a smudgy eye. It's really one of my favorite makeup looks. I used this really cool-powdered red lip product, Chanel Poudre À Lèvres, RMS Eye Polish in Solar and Marc Jacobs Highliner in Brownie and smudged them in with my fingers. And then I used Tom Ford mascara, and Hourglass Vanish Concealer and Arch Brow Gel. [

[My partner] Jason Statham has a real passion for photography. We take a lot of pictures of family life together. It's always interesting when you are working with your partner. He said, "you need to put your head this way so I can get focus," and I said "I know! I've been a model for 13 years!" But I'm really happy with the results.

I think often in a time of crisis we're led to believe that we have to make massive grand gestures and it can be overwhelming. For me, there are a lot of small things that you can do day-to-day. This is a time of reflection for all of us. I've been lucky enough to support the World Health Organization, which has been incredible in response to the pandemic, and Feeding America, which launched a COVID-19 response fund to help get resources to food banks. One in nine people in America, including millions of children, struggle with hunger or food insecurity. And then beyond that, there are lots of little things like supporting small businesses… and small restaurants…. and you can do the same with beauty purchases.

My son Jack is two and turning three in June. I don't want to complain about anything, but it is a challenge to run after a two-year-old regardless. We read stories all day long. He's at the age where he won't actually sit and complete a task. We walk around the block every day and get some fresh air. We're very lucky.

My self-care routine, in general, is exercise. That's where I start everything. And so Jason and I cleared out our garage the other day. I train normally with Simone De La Rue. I've been using her app to do a workout, every day actually. I have no excuse!

It's been really nice not to wear makeup for weeks and to see how it has affected my skin. It's much clearer and I have fewer spots. I've had time to be diligent with my skin-care. Tonight I might take a bath, which is a rare thing in my house, once I get Jack down. There's definitely no putting a face mask on in the middle of the day. I tried it the other day, and Jack was shocked. He told me to take it off right away: "What's on your face, mama, take it off I don't like it!"
