This item is solidly constructed, easy to install, and works like a charm. While most people could fabricate one of these antennas in their basement, all you would save is maybe $15 or so - and then only if they did everything right the first time and had no rework. Hardly worth spending the time for so little savings.

I have this mounted on a sturdy tripod and up around 15 feet. It works flawlessly and has low swr across the 2 meter band. Works adequately on 440. Construction is excellent. You would be hard pressed to make one yourself of this quality for the same price and the usual three trips to the hardware store. Recommend highly.

WOW! I had no idea how good this antenna would be. The first thing I noticed was my receive went from S1 to full quieting on a repeater 60 miles away. The antenna is only 20 feet in the air air I have an amazing range. My last antenna was a Diamond 500 omni and a Cushcraft 2m beam. I could have saved a fortune. As a ham you would be remiss in passing on this $44 antenna. K4RKS

This antenna went up in just a few minutes with four hose clamps and the parts provided with the antenna. You have to buy two 2-1/4 inch clamps to attach the antenna to your mast. Two smaller clamps come with it. I put the antenna up 25 feet and was very pleased to check the S.W.R. and found it to be lower than 1.5 on both 2 meter and 70 cm. Got great signal reports.
