“Yes,” he says. “And that's something that will become clearer by the end of the season.”
He also discussed how the idea of appropriation has always been a part of Watchmen -- Nite Owl himself took his costumed identity from the previous hero to use that name -- and now that’s continuing with the Owlship as well.

“That technology that Dan used to make Archie has now been appropriated by law enforcement and, instead of using helicopters, they've used the Archie design to make these airships,” he says. “That's yet another form of appropriation.”That said, Lindelof also hints that the original Archie may wind up showing up on the show some time this season, even if Nite Owl himself does not. “I can tell you that Dan himself will not be making an appearance, but I can't say the same for Archie,” says the EP.
